The Midcoast Maine Chamber Council (MCCC) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 MCCC Photo Contest.  More than two-dozen photographers entered close to 100 photographs into the contest. First, second and third place winners were chosen in the six categories: agriculture, boat building, fairs and festivals, landscape, lighthouses and performing arts.

First Place winners include David Clough (Agriculture), Lorain Francis (Boat Building), George Paton (Lighthouses and Landscapes), Marti Stone (Performing Arts) and Janis Gilley (Fairs).

First place photos will run in the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Discovery Coast Magazine, available at the chamber beginning in May.  All winning photos may also be viewed at www.therealmaine.com/mcccphotos.html

The Midcoast Maine Chamber Council is a regional marketing organization comprised of seven chambers of commerce from Brunswick to Searsport.  The Council promotes travel and tourism in Midcoast Maine through branding, advertising, target marketing and participation in tradeshows throughout the country.
“We are pleased to offer to our members and to artists in the Midcoast this opportunity to work with us to promote themselves while enhancing our brand,” said Melanie Sheafe, the Council’s President.

The grand prize-winner in each category will receive 50% off a photography workshop at the Maine Media Workshops during the 2009 season. Second prize winners in each category will win a trip in Midcoast Maine valued at not less than $500 and third prize winners will receive a regional tourism package valued at not less than $300.

Entries were judged by Lynn Karlin, Peter Ralston, Neal Parent and Kate Izor. Criteria judges considered included creativity, lighting, relevancy to topic, and composition.
